Lost & Found

Partners Environmental finds that one of our greatest assets is our ability to bring our broad base of experience to our client's projects, allowing them to benefit from what we have learned. These photographs depict a few recent instances where uncommon issues were resolved by our staff.

While not typically considered PCB sources, this cable elevator contained regulated levels of PCBs. A bottle of Sodium Cyanide found in a building prior to its demolition. This chemical is essentially the same used in the Nazi gas chambers during WWII and required incineration for disposal.
A mercury switch taken from equipment during cleanup of a former industrial building. Over 20 switches were located at this site alone. Vermiculite insulation found inside concrete block walls during demolition. Although no asbestos was found in this material, certain vermiculite mines have been identified as having regulated levels of asbestos.

X-ray machine found in a former office building. While it does not contain a radiation source, a small capacitor on the unit contains high concentrations of PCB-oil.
